After migrating from Vim to Emacs as my primary C++ editor in 2015, I switched from Vim to Neovim for miscellaneous non-C++ tasks as it is more convenient in a terminal. Customizing the editor with a language you are comfortable with is important. I found myself increasingly drawn to Neovim's terminal-based simplicity for various tasks. Recently, I've refined my Neovim setup to the point where I can confidently migrate my entire C++ workflow away from Emacs.

This post explores the key improvements I've made to achieve this transition. My focus is on code navigation.

2018年4月1日我写了ccls: a fork of the C++ language server cquery，宣告ccls诞生。如今一周年，有必要记录下这一年的点点滴滴。

忙碌的Labor Day长周末。Growth hacking(希望Hudson River Trading用上无进展，和前clangd、Eclipse CDT开发者交谈、cdt-lsp计划，给LanguageClient-neovim vim-lsp加wiki页面成功)，增加了少量stargazers。学习clangd并悄悄改typo、摸索musl的开发模式，希望r2走上正途(C11/C99)，LeetCode第一次用上std::adjacent_find……

C++代码索引工具现状

一直以来Haskell没有好用的工具支持goto-references，hasktags、fast-tags等能提供ctags风格的goto-definition，但不支持goto-references。最近Google开源的一个工具https://github.com/google/haskell-indexer(主要作者为Robin Palotai)提供了基于Kythe的交叉引用实现。

这应该算第三次使用Emacs了。第一次是在2009年，NOI 2009酱油后下决心好好学习Linux，Philip Xu前辈我指引了两天，发现Linux这个未知世界竟然有这么多好玩的软件。编辑器之神Vim用了一阵子了，NOIP 2009前若干天开始探索神的编辑器Emacs，使用Emacs Lisp配置，实现与Vim相似的设定效果需要多出好多代码，因此不久又回到Vim。大概2010下半年又用起Emacs，这次好好折腾了一把。当时Vim的插件生态还围绕vim.org(现在逐步转战GitHub了)，Emacs倒是有个http://www.emacswiki.org，尝试了Mew、ERC、AUCTeX、haskell-mode、org-mode等好多东西。很多文件类型的解析、自动缩进支持比Vim对应物好不少，插件质量感觉也稍高。

Vim模拟

平心而论，Vim的modal editing确实比Emacs强，而Emacs默认的按键绑定设计不好，不适合使用，要让它适合做工作环境往往要改大量按键。“一千个读者心中有一千个哈姆雷特”，Emacs的配置也确实大相径庭。
